1. Initial consultation

This takes the shape of a relaxed free-form discussion exploring motivation, personal style, favoured materials, designs and budget. Ideas are explored, sketches made and the design and production process explained.

2. Design drawings

Drawings of several potential designs are produced to scale with both side and top elevations of the proposed piece.

3. Selection of stones

The client is able to choose exactly what size, shape, colour and quality of gemstone they would like to have in the finished piece. Typically, a selection of stones which fit the design criteria is sourced from specialist lapidaries and from these the client is able to make their decisions.

In the case of diamonds of 1 carat in size or larger, the desired stone qualities (“4 Cs”) will be discussed and appropriate certified gems will be sourced from my specialist providers.

4. Initial production

The sheet metal or wire is cut and worked by hand to produce the desired shape. As part of the production stage the piece can be fitted for size and adjusted as appropriate.

5. Polishing

The rough piece undergoes a series of polishing processes using increasingly finer polishing compounds in order to produce a high lustre finish.

6. Hallmarking

Once the majority of the metal-working has been completed the piece will be sent to The Assay Office to be checked and hallmarked.

7. Stone setting

This always takes place after hallmarking in order to ensure that the stone or setting is not damaged during the hallmarking process.

8. Final polish

The piece is given a final detailed polish before being presented to the client.

9. Delivery

That special piece is yours! Enjoy!!
